How Having an Attitude of Gratitude Can Change Your Life

It is so easy for us to fall deep into our thoughts of life's happenings and what we are, or are not, doing or being. In our society, it can be easy to compare, to want more, and to feel like we need material things to have a "full" life.  

But let me ask you this, when you think about what makes you happy, what is it? Is it a person, a place, a thing? Is it a memory or a funny scenario? Or is it a certain type of feeling evoked by one of the above. 

For me, happiness often comes from laughter and joy with loved ones, and spending time with friends and family. Those times of laugh attacks or being silly with each other are times that I love reminiscing about and when I think about gratitude, I am grateful for those moments and those people that make my heart happy. 

What I urge you to do today is look around you.

What is in your daily life that you are grateful for? 

What might not be the most obvious choice, but you know it makes you happy and content? 

More likely than not, once you step back and start to think about all the things that make your life beautiful you'll probably find more than came to mind in the first place. 

Gratitude is a beautiful thing. It can bring calm to our minds and peace to our actions. 

What if we focused more on the blessings we have rather than stressing over what we don't have? How would that affect each day for you? Life is a continual journey to grow and achieve your goals, but if you don't enjoy the day that's in front of you they will just fly on by. 

In practicing daily gratitude, we will have more kindness towards ourselves, others, and the universe. 

I hope we can all find peace in all the things we are grateful for and enjoy living in the moment, after all today is a gift, and that is why they call it the present.
